Despite a long list of speakers and a blizzard of letters and submissions objecting, Councillor Dianne Saxe’s motion to refuse the application for this development was defeated.
Only Councillor Matlow supported Saxe’s refusal motion. Councillor Perks, who was thought to support the motion, voted against it while blaming the Province although the application was more than 3 times the density guided by the Province itself. Perks explained his vote indicating that if it was not approved, the developer could go to the OLT with an even taller building and win. Additionally, the supportive report from the City Planning department was something that could be highlighted at the OLT as well.
As a reminder, the building will be 731 units with 18 parking spaces.
