Delisle Court Redevelopment

We have recently had our attention drawn to a planned redevelopment of Delisle Court. There has been no public notice visible to the neighbourhood as with many other developments in the area, so we confess surprise.

We then asked the Councillor’s office to organize a virtual meeting for us with a representative from Choice Properties REIT (George Weston Limited is the parent company), the entity which is developing the site to take us through the plans. This happened on Friday May 8, and from our perspective (and that of our neighbours at 10 Delisle), the news is not good.

The site is being redeveloped as a community cultural centre with an auditorium. The representative from Choice provided us with a section so that we could assess the plan. We provide the visual for you (above).

To summarize: All the businesses currently operating in Delisle Court will close or be relocated. Construction is slated to begin next year around this time and there is a 36-month construction timeline.

The matter is scheduled for a Committee of Adjustment hearing to seek a number of variances from the current zoning to allow this development to proceed. This will be our opportunity to be heard. Details here:
