Thanks to all of you who took the time to attend our AGM on June 11, 2026 at Calvin Presbyterian Church. Briefly, in the business section of the meeting we went through standard AGM topics, including:
- Approving our financial statements
- Approving the activities of the board in the last year
- Approving the board slate for the coming year: Cynthia Crysler, Michele Chandler, Korinne Collins, Janice Evenson, Amanda Levey, Jonah Libster, Michael Lindsey, Greg Nevison, Mary Renaud, Rahil Shirsalimian, Richard Steele, Elizabeth Topp
Additionally, DPRG Board President, Cynthia Crysler highlighted the some of the board’s activities, including:
- Advocating for improvements to traffic, transit and street safety including repairs to the Yonge & St. Clair intersection and neighbourhood sidewalks.
- Working with the Midtown Ravines Group, of which the DPRG is a member, for the rehabilitation of the Vale of Avoca
- The Board’s work on the developments pending for the area
- A refreshed DPRG website and newsletter and extending an invite to members to assist
Councillor Matlow then led one of his traditional town halls. The topics were wide-ranging but focused on the ongoing struggle for Toronto to be able to control its own destiny in the face of the Province’s reach into the area of development, which has evolved fairly aggressively over the last two sessions.
There was also a lively question and answer session on the topic of the demolition of Delisle Court. The Councillor was circumspect in his opinion on the development but did indicate that Choice Properties could have taken a more consultative approach to the matter. The mood in the room was largely against the development as proposed and there was strong regret expressed relative to the further loss of street-animating small businesses.
