Some of us have found ourselves wondering what’s happening on the lower level of the St. Clair subway station which has had some form of hoarding happening for the past few years.
Apparently, this is entirely related to an elevator project. According to the TTC’s liaison office, the shutdown is part of their ongoing utility relocation work. We are advised that the team encountered unexpected issues with the control panel wiring where specific replacement parts were required. These parts had long lead times, which led to the delay. The most up-to-date information about the project progress and timelines can be found on the TTC’s website.
The signage at the station is currently being reprinted with the updated information and will be posted as soon as possible. The elevator is expected to be back in service by Spring 2026.
