Community Update: Ontario Land Tribunal Approves Lawton Boulevard Development Settlement

As you know, our community has expressed significant concerns about this development. However, the developer took it to the provincially-appointed Ontario Land Tribunal where a settlement was reached. Given that it had staff support, the settlement was agreed to by council. I could not support it in order to reflect the community’s opposition.

It seems the partners (Graywood and Kingsett Capital) for the approved 50-storey building at 29-39 Pleasant Blvd. have secured financing for this rental tower as the City has begun coordinating meetings for construction staging.

FoNTRA – FoSTRA meeting

The Federations of North and South Toronto Residents Associations held their annual planning forum on January 17. There was a full house of attendees, including two DPRG board members, who were both curious and unhappy about the direction of development in their neighbourhoods.

St. Clair Staircase: The Toronto Region Conservation Authority Request for Proposals to procure a geotechnical consultant to conduct slope stability assessments and conceptual design of the staircase has been drafted and will be released for bidding shortly.
