Calling All Ravine Lovers!

We are looking for volunteers to help in the annual clean up of our local ravine – to join with members of other residents associations sharing our local ravine.  This year the clean up will start on the dates of the City’s Big Spring Clean Up:

Initial Dates – Saturday and Sunday, April 22nd and 23rd.

Time – 9:00 AM starting time with a plan to work until about noon both days. Any time that you can spare would be greatly Appreciated.

Meeting Location – the top of the stairs at Heath Crescent on the east Side of the Ravine (please see map at the end of this email)

Required Gear – solid hiking boots/shoes, safety glasses and heavy duty work gloves AND THEY MUST BE HEAVY DUTY – those flimsy gardening gloves may look nice but they provide zero protection in this kind of situation.

Suggested Gear – long sleeves and long pants for protection regardless of the weather to avoid scratches and poison ivy.

Bring water if it’s a warm day.

Other supplies for bagging up the garbage will be provided.  Please email us at info@deerparkresidents.ca to let us know if you will be coming so we will have a good idea of numbers.

This clean up is a way to participate in the City clean locally – the garbage that blows in or is brought into the ravine is not only unsightly but it undermines the efforts to restore biodiversity to our ravine system.

Come join a bunch of nature-loving community enthusiasts to do our bit to make our city better!
